Recording a meeting

The easiest way is to record right in your browser, without installing anything: the recording is then immediately ready to process. Besluit.ai also accepts any audio file you recorded yourself, there's no link required to a specific platform. In an online meeting whose sound your browser can't capture, use the built-in recorder from Teams, Zoom or Google Meet if you can. Without a platform, for example an in-person or phone conversation, record with your phone or computer. Below you'll find recording in the browser first, then per system how to record yourself.

In the browser (recommended)

  1. Go to New meeting and find the "Record in your browser" card.
  2. Click "Start recording" and allow microphone access if your browser asks for it.
  3. Record during the meeting. You'll see the time and a sound level bar: if it doesn't move, the microphone isn't picking anything up. You can pause and resume.
  4. Click "Stop", listen back and click "Start processing" at the bottom. Optionally pick the matching calendar meeting first.

Recording an online meeting

  1. Tick "Also record audio from a tab or screen" before you start recording.
  2. In your browser's window, pick the tab where the meeting is running (for example Google Meet or Teams in the browser) and tick "Share audio".
  3. On Windows with Chrome or Edge you can also share the entire screen to capture apps such as the Teams or Zoom app. Tick "Share system audio" then.

On macOS and Linux a browser can only share audio from a tab, not from the Teams or Zoom app. Firefox and Safari can't share audio at all. Your own microphone is always included. In those cases, use the platform's built-in recorder or one of the options below.

Good to know

  • Keep the tab open while recording. A copy is saved in your browser every 10 seconds: if you close the tab by accident, you can restore the recording the next time you visit the upload page.
  • No access to the microphone? Click the padlock next to the address, allow the microphone for besluit.ai and try again.
  • Let the other participants know you are recording the meeting.

Windows

  1. Open the Start menu and type "Voice Recorder", built in on Windows 10 and 11.
  2. Click the microphone button to start recording.
  3. Click again to stop; the recording is saved automatically as an .m4a file.
  4. Find the file via the recording itself (right-click, "Open file location") or in File Explorer under Documents \ Sound recordings.

macOS

  1. Open Voice Memos via Spotlight (Cmd+Space, type "Voice Memos") or Launchpad.
  2. Click the red record button to start.
  3. Click again to stop; the recording appears in the list right away.
  4. Right-click the recording and choose "Show in Finder", or share it directly as an m4a file.

To pick a specific microphone or capture system audio, use QuickTime Player instead: File > New Audio Recording, using the arrow next to the record button to choose the source.

iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open the Voice Memos app, built in on every iPhone.
  2. Tap the red record button to start.
  3. Tap again to stop.
  4. Tap the recording, choose Share, and send the file to yourself (for example by mail or AirDrop) to upload it to besluit.ai afterwards.

Android

  1. Most Android phones come with a pre-installed recorder app, for example "Voice Recorder" on Samsung or "Recorder" on Pixel phones. Search your app drawer for "recorder".
  2. If yours doesn't have one, install a free app such as "Easy Voice Recorder" from the Play Store.
  3. Start the recording before the meeting begins and stop it afterwards.
  4. Share the file to yourself (for example by email or Google Drive) to upload it to besluit.ai.

Linux

  1. Check which source you want to record with pw-record --list-targets (on PipeWire systems) or pactl list sources on older PulseAudio systems.
  2. Start recording with pw-record meeting.wav in a terminal.
  3. Stop the recording with Ctrl+C once the meeting is done.
  4. Upload the resulting .wav file directly to besluit.ai.

To also capture system audio, for example a Zoom or Meet call in the browser, record your output's monitor source instead of (or alongside) your microphone.
